Covid-19 from Stefanie Elizabeth Photography

From a fellow bride to be and photographer....

I don't even know how to start this, as I sit here we are past the 30 day mark of being home all the time. I hear everywhere; "these are unprecedented times" and while that is true I still find myself wondering what the "new normal" will be.

I've decided to sit down and spend some time addressing lots of questions from clients as well as putting some of my own as a fellow bride trying to plan my wedding in 2020, the year of Covid-19.

What about my wedding?

  • If you should decide to reschedule your wedding due to COVID-19, your non-refundable retainer can be transferred to any available date in the summer, fall or winter of 2020 or even in 2021 with no rescheduling fee.

  • Please communicate with me if you are thinking of rescheduling. I've been checking in with clients weekly but always feel free to reach out to me for any reason.

  • I will give you a list of all of my available dates. This is continually changing, so please check in as your plans progress.

  • If you decide to reschedule for a date I am unavailable, I will have a trusted associate photographer shoot under my company and take care of you. I would like to avoid this as much as possible, since you probably put a lot of trust into hiring me specifically to document your big day but I can assure you, having an associate photographer isn't something that I take lightly and you can trust that you are in the best of hands. I will still be the one editing and delivering images.

  • If you decide to move forward with your original wedding date but alter your wedding day plans to fit with the CDC, federal & state guidelines, restrictions and recommendations regarding COVID-19, I would absolutely love to still photograph your wedding and will 100% be there! Currently (as of April 17th 2020) weddings are impacted from the Shelter in Place order in California.

Can I still continue to plan and book vendors for my wedding?

  • Yes, yes, yes! A thousand times yes!

  • We as vendors, and me personally as a bride understand that people are dealing with financial backlash over suddenly becoming unemployed, a reduction in hours and businesses being closed for the time being and employees not knowing when they will go back to work. Trust me, you aren't alone. Because of this, many vendors myself included are willing to take payment on retainers and work with you. All you have to do is ask. We are all in this together.

  • Stefanie Elizabeth Photography is still accepting weddings for the rest of the 2020 year as well as 2021.

What about my engagement session?

  • Here in California we are still under the "shelter in place" order through April 30th 2020, and as a non-essential business I can't be out and about, as much as I would like to. Trust me. I wonder if Home Goods misses me as much I miss it?

  • If you had an engagement session scheduled in March or April and it couldn't take place due to Covid-19 please reach out to me if you haven't already so we can rebook you for May unless the order is extended. Regardless we will get you rescheduled. You aren't alone, I myself have had to reschedule my own engagement photos. Yes it's frustrating, but I know I'm doing the right thing.

What about my portrait session?

  • As long as the Shelter in Place orders are in place, I cannot legally conduct photography sessions as a non-essential business. Assuming that the Shelter in Place orders are not extended into the early summer, it is possible we will be able to reschedule your portrait sessions as early as May 2020.

  • If you should decide to reschedule your portrait session due to Covid-19 , your non-refundable retainer can be transferred to any available date in the future.

  • If you are interested in booking a new session for the future I'm currently not requiring a retainer. Once the Shelter in Place order is lifted I will resume with deposits but since we aren't sure when life will resume our new normal you are free to book a session and not worry about a retainer at this time.

  • As much as I LOVE the idea of Front Porch Sessions, I cannot legally nor morally offer those at this time. While the idea of them are wonderful and in theory staying 6 feet away from families should be enough to keep everyone safe, we honestly don’t know how safe they truly are. I cannot in good conscience put any of my lovely clients and their sweet babes at risk. I say this as both a photographer and a human being: Trust me, photos can wait. (This paragraph brought to you by Hannah Kate Photography, we are exactly the same when it comes to this matter.)

What about my baby's newborn session?

  • Ugh this one is so hard (Sara I'm talking right to you my dear friend) . If you scheduled a newborn or first 48 session and had to postpone or reschedule it due to Covid-19 I know that not getting those first moments documented is difficult, but due to the Shelter in Place order I simply can't leave my home to do (in the governments eyes) non-essential business. Trust me I believe documenting these moments IS essential, however beyond legally I morally just can't think of the possibility of putting others at risk let alone a brand new life.

  • If you should decide to reschedule your newborn or fresh 48 portrait session due to Covid-19 , your non-refundable retainer can be transferred to any available date in the future.

There is a new normal on the horizon, and it's okay to be cautiously optimistic about what that will be.

If you would have told me six weeks ago that the entire world would be flipped upside down, schools will closed and toilet paper would be nearly impossible to find in the weeks to come I would have told you that you were nuts. Yet, here we are.

As a business owner, a fellow bride trying plan a wedding during a pandemic, a new step mom but more importantly as a person, I’m doing everything I can to do to help normalcy return, such as continuing to  follow the CDC, federal & state guidelines and orders that are in place.

As much as I want to jump in feet first, this will take time to ensure everyone's safety.

I love you all, you are the reason I get to do what I love. Stay safe, wash your hands, show love and I'll catch you on the flip side.
